Bernd & Hilla Becher

Just discovered the work of these German photographers.

I was so inspired by their photographs that I decided to run down to the old lumber yard on Mills Avenue and take some photos...the only place in town that I could think of that even comes close to the character of the facilities in these photos.

Much to my dismay, when I got there, it was a flat expanse of newly razed terrain...
I'm kind of tired of taking pictures of birds and flowers.

Diane Arbus

For Phillip.
Sometimes we have to open our minds and our hearts to see beauty in the places we might not otherwise expect to see it...places we might find repugnant even.
And we are rewarded richly for our trouble.
Like Dee-ane, I know you understand this, too.
I love you.

Life Quiz #1

A day spent at one's computer will leave one feeling:

A. Haggard
B. Horny
C. Headache-y
D. Hermitic
E. Half-witted
F. H'all of the above

Didn't even visit my mother *gasp* although we did talk for a long while on the phone. Spent almost the entire day cleaning out my iTunes player and downloading album art.

Should have done other stuff, really, but I just. didn't. feel. like. it.

It's been a weird week for my head, I must say. Something is definitely off-center. Haven't decided whether that is good or bad.

Disoriented, distracted, disconcerted. And at times, yes, discombobulated, even.

Need to get up.

Can I start drinking wine, yet?

Why yes, you may.

Thank you.

Quick, look! A chimp playing violin and a pretty lady....

Everything has already been done. Why bother?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Sally Mann

Where does my love reside within my heart...

I feel the absence this morning.
Two weeks from this evening
we will be together again
and he will fill the empty spaces.
Or is that me...
my own closely guarded vulnerability
lying dormant
through the unremarkable hours
stretching, awakening, surfacing
-the voluptuous mind-
full, soft, willing, exposed
eager to part its fragile veil
and embrace the generosity
of its own indelicate abandon

1.

As in the first.
The beginning.
The initiation, baptism, emergence, debut.
Inauguration.
Kickoff.
The prelude to something that is some thing.

I hope to use this little space to work through my many foibles and flights of fancy.

A work in progress for perpetuity.

More or less...
