Pen on paper.

During my lunch break I was taking notes from my medical terminology textbook.

Everyone was gone, so it was very, very quiet except for the perpetual cloudy roar of the air conditioner.

As I was writing with my cheap, retractable ballpoint pen, I could hear a very delicate tick, tick, tick coming from the ink cartridge inside the pen as it shifted back and forth when I placed and released the pen from the paper as I wrote. Punctuated with the even more subtle smack of the ball tip unsticking from the ink that had been transferred onto the paper.

I loved this sound. I want to remember it. So I describe it here so as never to be lost.

I just realized...there is another sound.

The light sweeping sound, back and forth, across my notebook as the cuff of my sweater brushes over the paper.

'Tis nice, these sounds together.
